Growing features

Like other early maturing varieties, Ilyich F1 tomatoes are sown for seedlings in early March. It is advisable to treat the seeds with a growth stimulant, this will significantly improve germination. Read more about seed treatment here. The soil should be light, consisting of garden soil, humus mixed with washed river sand... Planting is carried out with a depth of 2 cm, sprinkled with a layer of peat on top of the planting and sprayed with warm water.

After the appearance of the first sprouts, the containers are exposed to bright light. Watering is moderate, when the topsoil dries up. Only warm settled water is used. When the first pair of true leaves unfolds, the seedlings dive into individual pots. At this age, mineral feeding is required with a full complex fertilizer. It is possible to use nitrogen-containing preparations that help young tomatoes to build up green mass.

The transfer to the greenhouse begins in the second half of May. The soil is carefully loosened, fertilizers are introduced into the holes: superphosphate, potash complexes or wood ash. For 1 sq. m you can knead no more than 3 plants. Immediately after planting, the bushes are tied to a support. The tomatoes are formed into 1 or 2 stems, the lateral stepchildren of the tomato are removed. As the fruit ripens, the branches are also attached to the support.

Watering tomatoes is not necessary often, but abundantly. Warm water is used, ovaries are shed from the cold plant.

During the season, tomatoes are fed 3-4 times with full complex fertilizer. It can be alternated with organic matter: diluted mullein or bird droppings.

Pests and diseases

Tomato variety Ilyich F1 is resistant to many nightshade diseases. It is not very susceptible to late blight or fusarium wilt. In greenhouse conditions, plants can be threatened by apical or root rot. Mulching, loosening the soil, not too frequent watering with subsequent ventilation will help prevent the disease. Plants are recommended to be regularly sprayed with phytosporin or a pale pink solution of potassium permanganate.

Landings are often affected by pests. During the flowering period, tomatoes are annoyed by spider mites and aphids, later naked slugs and a bear appear, affecting the fruits. Large larvae are removed by hand, and then plantings are abundantly sprayed with an aqueous solution of ammonia. Warm soapy water will help get rid of aphids, an infusion of celandine or an industrial insecticide does an excellent job with a mite or thrips.

Tomato variety Ilyich F1 has proven itself well in different regions. Gardeners who have already tried it, note the excellent taste of the fruit, good yield, and easy care. Plants rarely get sick, they are able to bear fruit until the very frost.
